The collection includes articles by V.E. Khalizev (1930–2016), most of which were created in the later years of his life and reflect the scientist’s unflagging interest in the history of Russian literary criticism in its connections with cultural studies and philosophy. To these were added several earlier publications of a historical and theoretical literary nature, which have not been reprinted, but have not lost their relevance to this day. The compositional organization of the book is subject not to chronology, but to the logic of the development of the scientific “plot”: from theory to literary history; then there are publications on the history of literary criticism, connected by a network of mutual references and echoes, so valued by V.E. Khalizev. The appendix contains a list of the scientist's works. With the exception of the text about S.G. Bocharov, previously unpublished and published from the author's manuscript, the articles are reproduced from journal publications without abbreviations. Bibliographic references have been unified and updated.
