For two voices

The book “On Two Voices” includes two works. 

The novel “Through It” by the famous writer and literary critic Natalya Gromova, about which the author herself wrote: “Writing autobiographical novels in the 19th and early 20th centuries was quite a common activity for writers. It was believed that a biography, a drawing of one’s own destiny, is only the basis, and the rest is written and completed according to the free will of the author.” 

And the novel “Surprise”, authored by writer and teacher Boris Belkin. She and Natalya Gromova, spouses, left Moscow after February 24, 2022, now live and work in Israel. 

This little novel is written in accordance with the same principle as “Through and Through” by Natalya Gromova - real events in it are completed by the author’s imagination. And these events themselves partly repeat those that happened in her life, which is natural. However, Boris Belkin sees them with a much sharper gaze, devoid of even the shadow of illusions.
