The book “Now It Will Begin” is a new war lyric, a poetic diary of our time and the most complete collection of poems written by the famous Ukrainian poet Alexander Kabanov in Kyiv from mid-summer 2022 to November 2024.
Alexander Mikhailovich Kabanov is a Ukrainian poet born in Kherson (1968) and lives in Kyiv. “Now It Will Begin” is the twentieth book of the poet, the author of numerous publications in newspapers and magazines, translated into all major European languages.
“In his texts, the Kiev poet Alexander Kabanov turns poetry into an act of resistance and an attempt to retain humanity in a world where everything is blurred by war. These poems are not just anti-war poetry. This is an attempt to resurrect the voices of the lost. Kabanov talks about the war as a personal loss, about God as a person with whom we could not stay. Inside his lines are Vinnitsa, Gostomel and Bucha, and the father’s homeland.” — “Discourse”
